Mandingo Community needs to see the reason to
come together, for Common Goals
In view of the recent meeting I like to express my position with respect to what went on. On Sunday, April 13, 2008 I was
called to a meeting allegedly by the Imam, when I got there the meeting was not at the Imam house nor was the Imam
there. I immediately asked for the other people whom I felt should have been there. I was told they will be coming as
they were also invited however the meeting started without everyone else being present. As you know I have greater
interest in search of meeting as I have been advocating for unity in our community. At the end of the meeting I was
chosen to head an interim body for 2 months with the responsibility to conduct an election. I felt that this was a calling
and I accepted it. Thereafter, I tried to reach everyone including the Elderly to help in this regard but I was not getting
the corporation I want.
To my greater surprise on April 18, 2008 an article was put on (Wimam.net) internet which I felt was abusive, defensive,
and not acceptable. Other people that were affected wanted to rebut the article in the same manner but I placed a stop
to it. I told them that we all can not be the same. “You can not put fire out with gas.” Therefore, this should be advice to
all of us to come together and stop discussing family issues over the internet.
Finally I asked the Imam, and the entire Mandingo Community in the United States to help me resolve our problems.
