WIMAM HISTORY

The Wisconsin Mandingo Association of Milwaukee (WIMAM), Inc. was founded in the year 2000 by Liberian Mandingo residents of Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the purpose of grouping Mandingo to attend to the needs of one another as a community and to preserve the Mandingo culture and traditions.

During this time, this organization was called the Liberian Mandingo Association of Milwaukee LIMAM.  As the community gets larger through new Mandingo descents every day from other West African countries, the association was restructured and centralized to include other Mandingo, and then the name LIMAM was changed to the Wisconsin Mandingo Association of Milwaukee (WIMAM), Inc in 2002.

Since the formation of WIMAM, she has served as the corner stone for uniting the Mandingo community in Wisconsin and bridged with similar brother associations nationwide.  WIMAM has engaged in community activities such as baby showers, graduation programs, inaugural programs, charitable contributions, social and non social events, to meet the needs of her members and the community at large for the betterment of the community.

WIMAM is also engaged in bigger dreams and looking forward to better futures such as extending the association worldwide, reaching her helping hands to suffering brothers and sisters back home in Africa.
