ANNOUNCEMENTS
Let us come together as one and let go our differences. By: Mr. Mamadee Konneh, WIMAM's President, July 9, 2006
It has been said and as we all are aware, “United We Stand, Divided We Fall”. Why can't we be good listeners and allow others to express their opinions? I would like to point out some issues that are affecting our community, and my administration will do every thing to solve this dispute if Allah’s agree. |
Alhaji Kromah ‘s keynote speaker ship, a case for reflection June 19, 2007 By: Varfley A. Dolleh
SERVICES FOR MEMBERS
Gauging the trend of events in recent days amidst the euphoria regarding the pending “Mandingo National Convention” on the one hand, and the controversy regarding Alhaji’s guest speakership on the other hand, I am obliged by the dictate of my conscience to unearth the hidden agenda on the part of the proponents against the coming of Alhaji Kromah. I would have opted to remain silent in the wake of the sheer naivety, conspiracy and character assassination on the part of those advocating for the rejection of one of our renowned leaders in the 21st Century, fearing that this would give them an undeserved publicity and glorification. However, cognizant of the fact that history will not be unkind to me for being silent amidst heinous concoctions and it effect on the community and posterity yet unborn. The crux of the matter is “What is the essence of a conference of this nature?” In as much I am not one of the architects of this noble idea, but history, is replete with evidence that at the end of the day, you want to come up with a consensus, and resolution pinpointing those issues that affect and elevate the community and the Mandingo nation as a whole. We must be mindful that the enemies are subjectively gauging our self-centered actions with eagle eyes. What a shame that people should be arguing about Alhaji Kromah. I am baffled and perturbed by this sheer machination on the part of brothers that we taught might at this time be focusing their energy and expertise on tangible issue of development, rather than bad-mouthing their own brothers. As the parable goes, “If your house don’t sell you, the street won’t buy you”. The issue is whether or not Alhaji Kromah should serve as the Key note speaker. The answer is an explicit and unequivocal yes! I am told that at a recent meeting of officials LIMAP, it was unanimously agreed manifested through votes that among the selected few that our unquestionable, impeccable and revolutionary leader be accorded the honor to serve as keynote- speaker for the pending Mandingo Convention. Barely a day, few of our brothers started the heinous machination of undermining the will of the thousands of brothers and sisters without tangible or meaningful reason. I am of the opinion that we all should be proud of the historical land-marks of Professor Alhaji Kromah. Even, if it is not said, but it is felt that indeed, he is a hero and a liberator. I don’t have to belabor the issue further, but if forced we will deal with the issues appropriately. While it is true that we don’t want to be controversial, at the same time we are not afraid of controversy, especially, when it has to do with the Mandingo nation. It must be noted that we don’t intend to open a Pandora box or wash our cloths in the open fearing that our detractors and enemies would capitalize on it for usage against us. Why do they want to reject Ahaji Kromah? Is it because he fought Charles Taylor and the like? I think we should be proud of Alhaji’s contribution to the Mandingo Community in Liberia and the world alike. It is an elementary fact that his presence has tremendously changed the political chemistry of the Country. He is an icon and a political genius that worth emulation by generation yet to come. Let him serve as the guest speaker! It must be noted that we have always have personality problem in community with some always trying to follow the like of Sawyer, Baccus, Ellen and the like, at the same time demonizing the like of Alhaji Kromah and others. If it had been said that one of the names mentioned supra was coming to serve as Guest speaker you would hear the loud applaud. Most of these guys are far worst than Alahj Kromah and others. They have been used over and over again to breed seed of discord with in the Mandingo and Muslim community with impunity. What a sheer naivety and lack of identity? We will not compromise nor capitulate amidst the sheer misrepresentation. They worship the like of Sawyer, Baccus, and Ellen and others making them appear as though they are infallible. I urge the community to rise up and stand for justice and not to give in to this manipulation. Recently, I was approached by one of their surrogates to join the “Masonic Society” hoping that it would elevate my status. Being mindful of my identity and my religion, I made it known that it was absolutely impossible, especially, coinciding with the infamous “economic sabotage trial.” I would have joined to get freedom. “If you join this thing you will be acquitted,” were the words of one those enemies. With faith and trust in Allah, I was acquitted, although didn’t join the society. Today, I am sad to inform you brothers and sisters, that there are attempts by some of the enemies to recruit many of our brothers and sisters to join such secret cult in order to be identified. Please be mindful and not to be carried away. There is a plot for you to join them, demonized your heroes, and statesmen so that their heinous desires will be achieved. Where were they, when Taylor killed our people? Where were they when Monrovia was overrun and Alhaji Kromah had to send our brothers and sisters to die in Monrovia in order to liberate Mandingoes and non-Mandingo alike? Where were they when Damate Konneh had to drive Taylor form Liberia? Many of them were busy eating hamburgers and socializing when our brothers were undertaking the holy journey. I am aware of the back lashes as a result of this clarity; however, I am prepared to deal with any body void of leniency if the person’s action is not based on fundamental fact and reason. We await the arrival of Alhaji Kromah and the like for the pending convention. Let the detractors rest their case since history will not be kind with sycophancy and hypocrisy. This is sheer nonsense! I am not going to change my name, join any cult, force friendship with the like of “Brumskin, Ellen, Baccus, or Sawyer”, for any false sense of acceptance. I urge you the brothers and sisters to rise up against the false identity crisis. Don’t shy away from your name, your leaders, religion, or affiliation in order to please the imbedded enemies in our community. Listen, you have the right to say no to their satanic plan of demonizing every thing that is Mandingo. The only way they can accept you is to behave like their masters who are as culpable like any one else. Where were they, when “Sawyer, Ellen, Fambullah” and other formed the “Association of Constitutional Democracy in Liberia” (ACDL)? Are they not aware that their masters are more culpable than that of Alhaji and others? What a shame and vicious plot! Up to now their masters are yet to be apologetic and remorseful, yet they worship them. On the other hand, they blend the like of Alhaji, Damate Kabinah and others as enemies. We will and shall never capitulate, even with gun at our throat. Awaiting to hear from them.
